The Herodotus collection relates to events that took place in the last few centuries bc: the Greco-Persian wars, the formation of the Scythian civilization, and the construction of great palaces. It is no coincidence that this collection is named after that ancient Greek scholar, traveller, geographer, and historian who lived in the 5th century bc, the author of the first historical treatise known to humankind. Over 500 years after the death of Herodotus, Alexandrian scholars divided his treatise into nine parts, naming them after the muses.
